About This Park

Gornto Springs is the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Tucked into the heart of Dixie County along the banks of the Suwannee River, this second-magnitude natural spring is a county-owned park that has been a local favorite for generations. The water is crystal clear, the shade is deep, and the pace is slow in the best possible way. This is real Florida, and it does not disappoint.

The spring forms a natural swimming hole about 30 to 40 feet wide and 125 feet long, with water that holds steady at a refreshing 72 degrees year-round. On a hot Florida afternoon, that is exactly what you need. Steps on both sides of the pool make it easy to get in and out, and a viewing platform gives you a great spot to take it all in before you jump in.

Things to Do at Gornto Springs

There is more to do here than just swim, though the swimming alone is worth the trip.

Swimming: The spring pool is the centerpiece of the park, open to the public during daylight hours. The water is clean, cool, and clear enough to see straight to the bottom.

Kayaking and Canoeing: The boat ramp gives you direct access to the Suwannee River, one of the most iconic rivers in Florida. Paddle upstream, drift downstream, or just explore at your own pace.

Boating: Launch your boat right from the park and spend the day on the Suwannee. The river is a paddler and boater favorite for good reason.

Fishing: The Suwannee River is prime fishing territory. Bring your rod and cast from the bank, the dock, or your boat. It is a great spot for kids to get their first catch.

Picnicking: Covered picnic shelters, tables, and charcoal grills make this a great spot for a family cookout. Grab your cooler, fire up the grill, and enjoy the river view.

Playground: There is a fenced playground on site, so the kids have plenty to do while the adults relax.

•Camping: Spend the night and wake up to the sound of the river. Gornto Springs offers waterfront camping that is hard to beat at any price point.
