About This Park

Located at the west end of 8th Avenue in the coastal community of Horseshoe Beach, Butler Douglas Memorial Park (often called Horseshoe Beach Park) is Dixie County's premier waterfront boat ramp and camping location. Named after the founders of the town, this park offers sweeping vistas facing west over the Gulf of Mexico.

The park is incredibly popular with both visitors and residents. It is the perfect place to launch a boat for a day of fishing in the scallop shallows, enjoy a picnic with a view, watch a spectacular Gulf sunset, and spend the night camping under the stars.


Things to Do at Butler Douglas Memorial Park

Boating: The park features a well-maintained, two-lane boat ramp with a courtesy dock, providing excellent access to the Gulf of Mexico. There are about 20 boat trailer parking spaces available.

Fishing and Scalloping: Launch from the park to access some of the best inshore fishing and scalloping grounds on the Florida Nature Coast.

Sunset Watching: With its unobstructed western view, the park is one of the best spots in Dixie County to watch the sun dip below the horizon.
